H. Upmann is a storied brand of mild to medium Cuban cigars. The Half Corona is a newer vitola, first introduced in 2011 and is their first Half Corona since the end of World War II. The cigar is 3.5’’ long with a ring gauge of 44. It is rolled from fine Cuban tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region.
Out of the box, the cigar is floral, with hints of orchid around the foot. The stick opens with sweet notes of toasted brown sugar and toffee, developing into sticky molasses and undertones of rich earth. The cigar ends with savory flavors incorporating hints of oak and salted caramel.
The cigar is firmly rolled and burns even with a strong draw, taking around 20 minutes to smoke. The H. Upmann Half Corona is best enjoyed with aged wine and spirits like red wine, port, dry sherry, or single malt whiskey.
