The Davidoff Grand Cru series is the height of class and sophistication. The Toro is the largest format offered in the Grand Cru series, coming in at 6” in length with a generous 54 ring gauge. The flavor is more subtle and well-rounded than the smaller cigars of the series, but it is made with the same aged Ecuadorian Connecticut wrap, with the same mellow Dominican binder and long filler.
The cold draw is aromatic, with an aged elegance and notes of leather and oak. The first third of the cigar has a dense earthy flavor, though less than the intense tones of the others of the Grand Cru series. The retrohale is sweet, creamy, and gentle on the throat. The second third adds a toasted peppercorn flavor, and the final third accentuates the earthy tones with nut flavors.
This cigar is one to be savored at length over an evening of fine conversation or the full 18 holes on the course.
