Of all the superb cigars that Davidoff produces, the Grand Cru is a particular treat. This 5.25” Robusto has a ring gauge of 52 and takes three-quarters of an hour to enjoy. It is seamlessly hand-rolled from a smooth Ecuadorian Connecticut leaf, with binder and long filler from the Dominican Republic. The wrapper is a rich Colorado claro reddish-brown with a slick oily finish which emanates an intoxicating herbaceous scent.
The Grand Cru is a complex, medium-bodied cigar. The cold draw aroma is complex, with floral and forest tones. The first half of the cigar is effortlessly smooth, with a buttery cinnamon sugar and Graham cracker flavor, highlighted with peppery notes. The retrohale is rich with oak and licorice, complimenting the smoke’s dry mouthfeel. The cigar matures into a deep grassiness with musk and wood flavors.
It is a medium body and medium strength cigar that is a perfect pair for tannin-rich wines and peppery foods.
